G&J Hall become first time shirt sponsors of the Sheffield Steelers with Defenseman Russ Moyer wearing the Hall logo on his shirt
We are pleased to have agreed a sponsorship deal with the Sheffield Steelers; our successful local Ice Hockey team based at the Motorpoint Arena, just up the road from our Office and manufacturing units at Burgess Road.
Defenseman Russ Moyer is Halls sponsored player for the 2015/16 season
Junior hockey for Russ Moyer consisted of four years in the OHL with the Ottawa 67’s that ended in 2003. Rather than turn professional the Canadian defenseman took the opportunity to join the CIS, combining studies with playing at Acadia University between 2003 and 2007
on graduation, Moyer played his first professional year (2007/08) for the Muskegon Lumberjacks in the IHL where he played 50 games and received a call up the AHL with Grand Rapids Griffins. The following season saw Russ move to Odessa Jackalops in the CHL where his massive offensive contribution was well recognised and he was nominated a league All-Star.
In 2009 Russ decided it was time to move across the seas to Europe, first joining Aalborg in Denmark where he played for two years before moving to Björklöven in Sweden’s Division 1. Two years later came a move to the HockeyAllsvenskan and a year in Oskarshamn. Moyer again impressed and spent last year with Karlskrona playing a pivotal role in the club not only qualifying for, but also gaining promotion from the Kvalserien, a round-robin tournament to qualify to play in the next season’s SHL.
With his wife accepted on an MBA course at the University of Sheffield, the well-travelled 33-year old joined the Steelers in the summer of 2015 for his first year in the UK where he proudly wears an A on his jersey.
